Biography
With an Integrated Master's Degree in Medicine from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbra, Dr. Miguel Espírito Santo is a Specialist in Cardiology and Hospital Assistant at the Algarve Local Health Unit (Faro Hospital).
He also holds an Integrated Master's Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Lisbon, training that complements his clinical practice with a solid pharmacological foundation in the therapeutic approach to cardiovascular patients.
His clinical activity encompasses general cardiology, ensuring comprehensive care for cardiovascular patients, from prevention and assessment of cardiovascular risk to the diagnosis and treatment of various cardiac pathologies. He has particular interest and experience in the management of hypertension, coronary artery disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease, and cardiac rhythm disorders (arrhythmias), including the follow-up of patients with pacemakers and other implantable cardiac devices.
Alongside his clinical practice, he actively participates in scientific research, being the author and co-author of international publications, notably in the area of percutaneous coronary intervention, specifically in the treatment of the left main coronary artery (LMCA), published in the European Heart Journal – Acute Cardiovascular Care. He also collaborates on research projects at the Algarve Medical Center of the University of Algarve and in academic activities with the Faculty of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences of the University of Algarve.
He provides consultations in Portuguese and English.
